Default '02 S-Type Sunroof "Reset"?

I have a question about the sunroof on the S-type. I bought this car about 7-8 months ago. The sunroof has never opened all the way on the first push of the slide button. It will open to about 1/2 way and stop. Another push will get a second movement of about 1-2 inches and then a third push will get it to open all the way.

Is this the normal function? It is very consistant in this. It works this way every time. But it seems a but strange. The windows seem to work fine.

I read in another thread that if the battery is disconnected the windows and sunroof have to be "reprogramed". What does this mean and how does one go about this "reprogram" process?

Thanks again for your help!

It was a Jag tech that wrote that he 'always reprogrammed the sunroof, windows, etc. before he gave a vehicle back to a customer after disconnecting the battery".

What does that mean> How does one do it?

Thanks.

I don't know about the sunroof but (in the later (03+?) cars, at least) the seat memories can be saved using the diagnostic software and later restored.

The windows have to be programmed as per the handbook, I think. The sunroof may be similar. Try reading the handbook......

Or ask a Jag dealer!

Great idea! But I do not have a manual? Do you? Would you mind taking a look? Thanks.

There is not a Jag dealer within 70-80 miles. I guess I could try to call, but it would be nice to know if this "sunroof action" is normal or not first.

JagV8, How does yours work? Does it open all the way or pause about half way?

It's plenty of other goodies (single & multi-CD, satnav, jag phone etc) but no sunroof on this 04 STR. I'm not sure why I'd want one unless to let light in?

I did not see any info in the handbook. Is there a tech here that can tell me how to "re-sync" the windows and sun-roof after the battery is removed?

Thank you in advance.
