Smile '03 rear window operation.

Neither switches in the back doors operating my rear passenger windows
work, despite the small oval switch ,in the centre of the four window switches in the drivers door ,being in or out.
The master switches in the drivers door operate all the windows OK.
The kiddie locks on the rear doors are off.

Does the drivers Memory switch affect the rear window switches?
Could a previous owner have had the dealer disable them?

I can find nothing in the hand book to assist - any suggestion will be gratefully received.

Hello Mcavty> I have a 2000 Jaguar S-Type. My is doing the same thing. I got a new switch for the driver's door but it did not help. I even unhooked the battie. No luck! Now after unhooking the battie my lock button on my keyless remote horn won't beep when I press the luck button twice like it use too. If you find out what going on with your windows please please lent me know and I'll do the same. Good Luck and Thanks

I've tried rebooting the computer by disconnecting the negative lead of the battery for 5 minutes - it has made no difference.
I have now found the rear door window switches work if the front drivers door is open & the gearshift is in "Park".
Any ideas anyone?

Hi Hartleys,

No joy yet in overcomming the rear window operation - the car is due for a service in january, so I'll ask the dealer to check if the operation can be switched on through their computer?
Will let you know the outcome!
Cheers.

They all have the same problem. It's corrosion on the contacts. It's especially bad on windows not used much. Like the back ones. You can change the switch or take it apart and sand the contacts. If you do please coat the contacts with dielectric</SPAN> grease to help with the corrosion problems.
