Default 03 str coils

ok after swapping coils around im just gona replace all 3 on bank one. does it matter what kind of coils i use? i noticed that #3 cylinder was an aftermarket coil and 1 5 7 were original, and these are the cylinders periodically giving me misfire code.... auto parts international has them for cheaper than dealer- denso are the 3 that are misfiring

Just make sure you get the 4 post coils, not the 2 post.

I never heard of 3 failing at once without a clear cause. Probably they haven't failed........

Must be the area, cause I think I was driving through allentown when I had two coils go out (03 str). I think I only have 1 original coil left in the car, should probably replace it before it goes too.

Isn't this contradictory? I thought the LS used the same coils as the 4.0L earlier V8 motors with the square style connectors...

Curious because I am planning on putting all new coils and plugs in my 03 and want to ensure I get the correct parts, I scrubbed the S-type FAQ, but didn't see anything about which coils go to which years/engines.

I think the coil compatability is somewhere in like a Ford parts crossreference thread IIRC...I know I saw the PN somewhere on here for the Lincoln coils.

phaelax - feel free to drop by the Burgh and look me up on one of your interstate trips.
