Hey team.
Here’s a thread some of you might find interesting, if not… well then my apologizes for wasting your time..

Quick back story:
I had a blown headlight bulb on my passenger side and was trying to figure out how to replace it without pulling off the front bumper skirt? There is not a lot of room and since I’ve never preformed this task before I was of course unsure and a little hesitant to say the least.. but hey, its just a bulb and the headlight doesn’t work already, so how bad can I screw it up from here? Lol.

Let the fun begin:
I began by removing the top plastic skirt




Here’s what it looks like (before)




Removing the top turn signal bulb, I wanted the extra room




Removed the rear cover and lets take a peek inside..




Ok.. So this is what it looks like inside.. I’ll need to remove the main electrical connector, push in the straps on the right side to release the bracket and then push it too the far left side to gain access to the bulb.






Grab the bulb and remove it






Old bulb, new bulb



Install in reverse order..


Builders note:
Only one tool was used for this project.




The total duration for the project was 15 minutes

The total cost was, I think?? $6.50 for the bulb…

Niccce!! How much are bulbs cuz I gotta change mines in the morning

 

I bought mine from Canadian tire for less than 10 bucks. should have changed both with probably some nicer bulbs but im not complaining. What these pictures dont show and what annoyed me was the wire clasp that is in there that you have to dislodge by pushing it down and out, but other than that this set of pictures really are perfect.

 

I spent a lot of time researching this, and decided on Philips VisionPlus. Got them on Amazon for $19.

Well done. Seeing photo's makes it so much easier.

 

This is great. Just replaced my bulbs. The whole job took 15 minutes and only because I couldn't figure out how to remove the skirt.

When I was placing one of the bulbs in, I could jiggle the back side of the head light that the bulb mounted onto. Is this normal? Could I have offset the position of the headlight so it aims in the wrong direction? Any help/guidance in figuring this out would be greatly appreciated.

This is an X Type, thanks to reyesl, but it will give you the idea.

Removing the headlight assy is not necessary, I had to replace a unit that had a broken adjuster. This is my "Demo" unit.


1. Remove 2 wire clips from access cover.



2. Remove cover.



3. Remove electrical connector/plug.



4. Squeeze and rotate wire clip from base of lamp.

5. Remove and replace lamp.

 

This is a good example to always post the pictures directly to this forum. All those off site places will eventually go dormant and we lose all the pictures.
