Question 2000 s type 3.0 would not turn over?

Hi again, Check this out. My 2000 s type 3.0 with 72000 miles would not turn over this am. All lights and other electrical ok. After several attempts with no luck I noticed the hand brake was pulled up tight, and released the hand brake and my baby started with no problems the rest of the day. I read in the forums that its good to set the hand brake to stop movement of car prior to shifting into park so the shifter wont lock up. Has this happened to anyone as I cannot find in other posts. I would like to nip it before it causes problems. Love my S Type

you pull and release the parking brake and the car starts? Sounds like a loose connection or a ground fault from chafing. I would get that car up high on a rack and start looking.

Possibly the transmission was not fully in the park position.

Check the shift cable to the gearbox as the two bolts can have a tendency to loosen and cause the vehicle to not be in the park position when trying to start the engine.

Thanks NBCat. Was not fully in park. Moved the shifter and bingo, started. Guess I didnt get enought sleep last night. By the way, exactly where are the two bolts located. I read this in one of the posts but not sure if in the top with the shifter or under the car. Thanks again. Nelson123

The bolts for the shift cable are underneath the vehicle.

THANKS NBCat. I will check tomorrow and tighten. Jags running great and will keep on top of these small problems before they get out of hand.
