I am diagnosing a problem with my 2001 S-Type 4.0L. It won't run (starts, but really ragged and almost zero HP). I have two codes (P0340 and P0341) indicating that the bank 1 camshaft position sensor circuit has a problem. I have a service manual and have followed the prescribed steps to determine the cause of the codes, but have hit a wall.
I am now trying to test the wiring between the ECM and the camshaft position sensor. The manual indicates that I should verify that the resistance between the sensor's pin 1 and the ECM connector PI01 pin 94 is less than 5 ohms. My problem is that I have been unable to find a pinout/plug diagram anywhere, let alone a way to identify which plug is PI01.
I have pulled the fresh air intake and gained access to the plugs. I have removed one of the three plugs from the ECM, and I don't see any identifying marks that would indicate that it was PI01 or, if it were, which pin is 94 (I know, insane that there are that many pins in one plug).
Anyway, I would be extremely grateful if someone happened to have a diagram that called out how to determine which plug is which and which pin is which.
Ok, this is insane. I have literally spent hours looking for this information, searching google and every forum I could find to no avail. Well, after posting my question to this forum, I figured I would continue the search while waiting for a response. Well, I guess I must have phrased my search parameter a little different because I found the document that I needed.
Here's the pinout in case anyone else runs into this issue.
I guess I celebrated too soon. I see that there is no pin 95. I guess I will need to dig deeper and see if I can determine which pin would be considered pin 95 on a 60 pin connector. If anyone happens to know which of the 60 pins goes to the right bank camshaft position sensor, that would be helpful.
Thanks Norri. That is exactly what I needed. I will test those when I get home from work this evening. Fingers crossed that I'm not buying a new ECM before this is all resolved.
