the pre-'03 cars are notorious for parasitic drain. first thing to try is to turn everything off when you park: a/c, radio, auto wheel and seats, auto lights, EVERYthing. This may help, but if not there is a TSB on an auxiliary wiring harness that solves the problem. You can trouble shoot to find the device that is draining, but it involves looking for current draw at every accessory and electrical device...

pre 03 cars do have a plenty problems.. 1st thing to check .. is in the trunk.. white connector.. near battery check and see if its corroded.. if so cut it off and separate the wires.. check the easy things.. first.. glove box light on.. ignition barrel not shutting off all the way when turning vehicle off.. if none of these works then will need to be drain tested.. with an amp prob.. on the negative terminal.. that auxilary harness. does work for that problem.. but can be several other things.. ive had in the pass... seat modules ..relays... front control module losing keep alive power missing .. air conditioning module.. several things can cause battery draw .. good luck.

Any ideas???
I have the same problem with 2001 S-type, dealer has not been able to find root cause, six batteries installed, special 12 volt battery switch attached to battery which I keep plugged in overnight everyday. Like you, no indication or signs when vehicle will start or not. An an engineer assess, only found loose connection after dealership having vehicle for a month, now right back where I started at today. Very frustrating, Jaguar customer relations is trying to help but don't know where that will lead since my vehicle is 10 years with only 43k miles. Go figure!!!!

Robert, IMB, you actually have a good chance of finding the problem because your drain is so fast. Search for the electrical schematic on the forum and divide the system into major components. Park your car and isolate a chunk of components by pulling one fuse every time you park. If the battery drained, that wasn't the problem. Replace the fuse and repeat. Eventually, you'll narrow it down. It's not a labor intensive process, but it does take time. Just be methodical and you will find the fault.

You shouldn't, the NA cars did not use the radio code.
If for some reason yours does you can get it from the dealer.

Thank you all, I'm wondering if we are all experiencing very similar "drawn battery problems" why was there no "recall's ever issued. I thinks it's fair to say that the Jaguar technicians really don't know what the problem is. Like so many others when the vehicle didn't start, I later went to retrieve some items from rear seat, I had no keys in my hand, yet when I closed the door the back rear lights flashed four times yet front lights never came on

Hiya, I have just bought a 1999 stype 3.0l V6 quite cheaply from my brother in law because it has this battery drain problem,
I love the car and want to get this sorted.
I'm no mechanic but like to fix things myself if I can.
I have noticed that 4 relays in the boot stay on all the time and are always warm,
for the last couple of nights I have double locked the car at night (I don't normally lock cars as I can park around the back of my house) and in the morning the relays are cold,
I'm not completely sure I have fixed the problem yet and am still keeping a spare battery in the boot but it all seems good so far,
Worth a try before you take to drastic measures.

Imb - we're not all suffering and generally an actual fault has been found (chafed wire / bad alternator etc).
