2002 S-type emergency brake won't stay up!
Hi...I haven't been here in awhile but have an issue with the parking break on my 2002 S-type Jaguar.
I just did the rear brakes myself (new pads, new rotors, etc.). But now, the parking brake won't stay engaged. I never removed the calipers or touched the parking brake cables. I can see that the cables are still attached. When I pull up on the emergency brake it just flops down?! I can hear a noise when I pull it up that sounds like it's tightening up the rear brakes so I think it's functioning. Not sure why it won't stay up though. It has to be related to the brake job right?

Hey! Just joined the forums. I am having this same issue with my 2002 S-Type. It feels like the brake is tightening, but it will not lock into position. Have you had any luck with this?
Thanks greatly!

The pistons on the rear calipers are supposed to be turned and compressed at the same time.
Did you damage the mechanism?????
Pushing the piston 'STRAIGHT IN' will destroy the caliper.

It has been over a year since I changed my pads and rotors, but I remember having to turn the pistons and compress them so as not to damage the calipers. I did not do them at the exact same time seeing as I did this job myself; but I did complete both before pressuring the brakes again.
Might this have affected it?
