Default 2004 S-Type Climate Control

Another S-Type Climate Control blowing hot air thread!

Firstly I am totally non-technical when it comes to cars - I can build you a state of the art IT system using the latest technologies but ask me to check the oil in my Jag and I would need 20 minutes to google a youtube video....

So my 2004 S-Type has recently started blowing hot air constantly. I have read lots of threads here and there are so many things that can be the cause it appears!

At first I took it into Kwikfit to re-gas it (I had a free re-gas coupon :P) thinking it needed re-gassing. They came back and said there was an issue and offered to diagnose it for £50 which i paid and they came back and said I needed a new Condenser for £280 which they would fit.

Before proceeding with however that I decided to get a code read done (we IT people love our error codes!) and this is what came up:

B1242 - Recirculating air flow door actuator circuit failure
B1262 - Defrost servo motor circuit failure
B1263 - Vent servo motor circuit failure
B1264 - Foot servo motor circuit failure
B1265 - Cool air servo motor circuit failure

No other codes came up for any system which I was pleased about Having had it code read I rung my local Jaguar dealer to enquire into what they would charge for diagnostics of the problem and was informed that it would be £129 an hour and they would anticipate 3 hours just to diagnose....!!!

So my dilemma is which way to go - does the above codes indicate a failure of a particular part of the system? I should point out I love my Jag beyond measure so if I have to pay out I have to pay out - but before I do I thought I would ask here.

Just looking for some sage advice from you Jag Wizards....

Clear codes. Do they come back? Which first?

I cleared the codes today, ran through the Climate Control again and checked for codes. The only 2 that came back were:

B1242 - Recirculating air flow door actuator circuit failure
B1265 - Cool air servo motor circuit failure

I also had fuse F32 checked to see if it was blown and all was ok.

While cycling through the Climate Control I noticed that when in Dual mode, the passengers side blows cool air when set on 17 degrees while the drivers side blows very hot air. If i switch dual mode off both sides start blowing hot air.

I am starting to suspect the good old DCCV/RCCM failure combo....

Sadly it probably is one/both of those. Maybe also a motor fault - but this would be as well rather than instead.

Why not put clamps on the feed lines to the heater core and see how the cool air functions then?
