Default 2005 jaguar s type

Looking to buy 2005 s type with 108,000 miles on it. It has a e break problem and ac is blowing hot air. Other wise the car is in excellent condition. Please advise.

If you can DIY then maybe. If not, risks being a money pit.

Money pit, where is the car located ? What is the e-break issue and hot air is more likely then not a bad DCV and because that sorted out, it shorted the CCM . The hot air is probably two issues wrapped in one. My car had both the same issues yours had. Yes I resolved it but it all added up to money money money.

Note that I also own a 2005 S-Type. I've had it for nearly eight years. If you cannot handle doing all maintenance and repairs yourself, do not even consider purchasing this vehicle. Paying a dealership or even an indie shop for the required service and repairs will eat through your checkbook in a hurry....

Thanks for the warning but I jumped in and purchased the car due to the love of the style. I am handy so will be trying to do most of the work myself. Just looking for some guidance and experience.

The e break issue is parking break message comes on the dash and this annoying chime keeps ringing. I have installed a new parking break switch and the module seems to be working as far as engaging and disengage. What else can I try?

The switch in the middle console was my issue. Did you perform a brake system reset after you replaced the switch? Mine would chirp while in drive and not stop until the switch was re placed .

As you can DIY, read the forum's existing posts. They cover everything likely to go wrong (and many unlikely) in detail, often with fixes.

Check TSBs.

Download JTIS.

Electronic Park Brake (EPB) –
Re-Calibration Procedure
2003 MY-ON
S-TYPE
M44998-ON

Issue:
On some 2003 MY-on S-TYPE vehicles, a customer may report a concern of premature
parking brake pad wear or the brakes binding. This condition can result if the electronic
park brake (EPB) system is not re-calibrated after the removal of the rear brake calipers
to replace the brake pads.
Action:
Should a customer express concern regarding the above, refer to the calibration
procedure detailed in this bulletin.
1. Reset the EPB module:
a. Switch off the ignition.
b. Disconnect the battery for 30 seconds. For additional information, refer to STYPE
Workshop Manual Section 414-01.
c. Reconnect the battery.
2. Start the engine.
3. Firmly apply and release the footbrake five times.
4. Confirm that the message ‘NOT CALIBRATED’ or ‘APPLY FOOT AND PARK
BRAKE’ is displayed on the instrument cluster message center. This indicates that
the parking brake is in calibration mode.
5. Lightly press the footbrake pedal.
6. Apply the parking brake by using the EPB switch.
7. Release the parking brake.
8. Release the footbrake.
9. Confirm that the brake warning lamp is no longer illuminated on the instrument
pack and that the ‘NOT CALIBRATED’ message is no longer displayed in the
message center.
10. Apply and release the EPB five times to ensure no error is present.
