Default 2005 S-type Transmission problem?

Hello, I am in Tallassee, AL and have just acquired this 2005 S Type with 3.0 engine with automatic transmission. I have a question about a possible transmission problem or maybe it's the drive shaft hanger bearing. Symptom is while driving at apprx 40-50 mph the engine rpm is going up and down and at the same time I am hearing a grinding sound. Not real loud but obvious. It is like something is loading down the engine rpm. Is this maybe the transmission or something in the drive chain. May be the hanger bearing or even the rear brakes. I really like the Jag and would like to solve the problem. Thank You in Advance, Tom

Sounds like a torque converter slip issue. Read up on the forum about this condition...
