Default 2006 S type Ignition switch replacement procedure

I'm hunting down a parasitic current draw on my S-Type, the GEM is not going to sleep. Removing power from the GEM ( remove passenger compartment fuse #33 ) and the car goes to sleep with 20mA quiescent current draw. Scanning the GEMs module data, all the inputs seems to be normal when the car is off. I thought I would try to change the ignition switch as that is a possible cause.
How easy is it to replace the switch portion of the ignition switch ?

From what I gather, it is the sliding cover piece in the keyway that most often hangs up and keeps the circuit from going to sleep. You might want to try lubricating this part of the lock assembly prior to tackling the job of replacing the entire assembly.

Thanks, I'll give it a go tomorrow.

Did you ever fix the fault? I have exactly the same issue, and can only get the battery draw to a normal level by removal of fuse 33. Without removing that, the 4 relays are remaining energised.
