Good evening everyone! I hope you all are having a rockin weekend.
I got in my car this evening - put it into reverse....heard a high pitched noise coming through the speakers and the P thing on the roof of the car...lit up red....when I put it into drive....the red light went away....Im reverse...came back.
Got home....tapped on all the sensors...no water in trunk...strange...
Any help would be awesome!
I am under warranty till Feb 2013.

Ok...on the light dome - there is a P black button...if I push it...it shuts off the front and reverse sensors...it will light up red upon pushing the black P button.

Last night - I put my car in reverse....there was a high pitched audible sound and the red light came on....
when I put it on park - the noise went away...and the light went off....in reverse...red light comes back on....

ok, is the high pitched noise coming from the parking sensors ? or the gearbox ?

 

my bad - I was not explaining this correctly...
I did some searching...its the rear bumper sensors...
This morning - everything is working fine....I located the box in the trunk on the left of the spare...no water...which is good...
Not sure what happened...but it was raining last night as I was driving...

You need a process of elimination.

If in doubt about the source of the noise, temporarily disconnect the harness connections to the Parking Aid Module (item 1) in the luggage compartment:



If the high pitched noise stops, it's the sensor system. If not, it's transmission related.

Everything is working fine now - but when it happened last night - the P on the light dome went RED in reverse...and made a noise for about 4 seconds....then stopped...back up sensors were not working.

Now today...everything is perfect....PHEW!

it might be worth checking the boot/trunk for water ingress
