Default 2006 str

Hi everyone:
It's been a year and a half since I last posted anything. Have there been any new upgrades to get our STRs going faster other than ECU tunes, exhaust systems, smaller pulleys and cold air systems? For a while there was talk of a Kenne Bell twin screw SC,but that never happened. Love to get this into the 11s. Anyone been close yet?
Thanks:
OESIII

Nope, a lot of the people that were wanting to develop the STR have since sold their cars for something faster. lol

Thumbs up 2006 str

Thanks Michael. That pretty much sucks though! I love the STR. After owning it

for four yrs.it would be hard to sell it. Until last week the only thing I did to the

car was front and rear brakes. Then a coolant hose burst. The mechanic said

the EGR was not working properly and the overheated EGR caused the hose to

rupture.Sounded off the wall to me,but I have'nt worked on a car since the 70s.

So anyway, 2 hoses and a new EGR and of course the labor and Merry Christmas

an $1857 bill! $48 hose = $1857.Who the heck designed a car with a coolant

hose behind the engine block? That guy should be fired!

I'm thinking about picking up something from the 30s,40s,50,or 60s that I can

actually work on myself. Three window coupe for everyday use would be nice.

Use the STR once in a while when it's nice out.

Have a great holiday:

Rasputin:
I put Magna Flow exhaust, but did not change the CATS.Used a straight

tube from the throttle body to the cold air box. No more baffles. Smaller pulley.

Removed the center resonators and installed an X-pipe. Had the ECU tuned.

Where did you get the LSD? From a Cobra? What gears?

I was afraid to screw up the engine with NOS. Have you had any problems

with it?

Thanks:

I don't know. After you responded to my first post he posted: NOS,Drag slicks,

LSD, 11s. I asked if he used a Cobra rear and what gears and if he had any

problems with the NOS. He has'nt posted anything since. Maybe he was just

joking around!

The only viable upgrade for big power is the twin screw KB kit from AVOS,

Although his STR/XJR specific kit has been "almost ready" for a while now... you'll have to contact him about when they will be ready.

NOS is a headache and waste of time, not even an option imo.

LSD is available. quaife has one for about $1,500 and i think OS GIKEN makes one too?

one guy having (possibly unrelated) issues with the quaife install wouldn't stop me from buying one,

differential and sticky tires will only launch the car harder, lowering ET's, but hardly trapping any faster. If you want the STR to be faster you need to make more power. Blower upgrade is likely best bet...
