Good afternoon everyone!
I have my car at the dealership to check over a few issues I am having...but one issue I am concerned about is this noise coming from the engine...its a ticking sound...once the engine is warm........only on acceleration...ticking does not happen in park or N...when I rev it.....just drive...when I give it gas....then when it gets to speed... it goes away...
Oil changed every 5000km always using 91 octane SHELL VPOWER fuel..
I have easy care total care warranty....and it expires next tuesday!

I'll post possibilities from less to worse: 1. It's possible the engine oil lost its viscosity, thus not up to the task. Swap in new oil. 2. Rusted out EGR tube to pass. exhaust manifold leaking exhaust 3. One or more cam valve followers can crack or wear. 4. Timing chain guide issue (not common on 06 S-Type). 5. Broken connecting rod wrist pin. Though not the worst: Worn A/C compressor bearings. Remove accessory belt then listen. Bring her in before warranty expires. Keep us posted and good luck.

The oil was just changed a month ago...2000km on the oil...with a mobil one oil filter installed...oil changes are every 5000km...3 months....

It was mentioned to me today to change to a thicker oil? This is normal wear and tear? Pistons making this noise..so the thicker oil would help?

I always use 5w30 dino...should I change to 10w30?

 

I will bring up those issues to the dealership tomorrow am.

 

5w30 is OK. Maybe drive belt tensioner is sticking a little.
