Hey guys I need your help. I have a black 2008 Jaguar S-type. I dont like the chrome on the front and rear bumper. Is there anywhere i can purchase black bumper inserts and remove those chrome ones. I like how the S-type R looks and im trying to go for that look.
Thanks
Thanks
I believe you can not buy those. Those have to be custom painted.
I would think twice about coloring them though. The other day my father was driving my Jag about 100 feet in front of me, and thechrome inserts looked so nice from far away.
Jaguar teamed with Ford made those chrome bumper trims exclusively for Lincoln Continental, Lincoln Ls, and both X and S types.
Think twice about changing them out.The s-type r is nice, but chrome never gets old in the automotive industry.

you have to get them painted. that is what i did with my front and back inserts. i agree, chrome is over rated and no one is using it anymore expect for ford and gm. take a look the new lineups from mercedes, lexus, bmw and audi, and you will see that chrome is only lightly used and gunmetal being preferred. the U.S. carmakers are always behind on the curve and still think that gas-guzzling cadillac escalades with a truck engine and chrome wheels and huge chrome badges are still in demand. when will they learn? expect a merger from all three auto makers or at least two of them to survive or perhaps another auto industry bailout.

Thanks for the feedback. Is it even possible to paint chrome? I mean will it even stick well. I would imagine one little chip or crack and the entire piece would need repainting. Jaguar14, how are the inserts you painted holding up? did you use any special techniques?
i had the same concern about paint chipping but so far they are holding up and it doesn't seem to be much of a concern. just make sure that your inserts are chip free or in basically perfect condition before painting. i had to buy a new front insert because one of mine had a small chip on it and the place i took it to advised getting a new one so that the paint will not crack and would adhere better to the chrome.
