Default 3.0 Engine build date

I am fitting a Jaguar S type 3.0 engine into a kit car and for registration purposes I need the engine build date, I have searched the internet but have only found info for the V8 engine. I know that the V6 and V8 engines were produced in different engine plants in different countries but I assume that if a date code was stamped on the V8 then they would have done the same on the V6 engines. Does anyone know where I might find it.

Thank you for the info, I actually need the date of manufacture rather than the serial number. When I register the car with the DVLA I will have to comply with the emissions regulations in force at the date the engine was manufactured. I have a copy of the V5 (registration document) that came with the car which is my proof of which car the engine came from and the date the car was registered which was on 30/03/2001. I have been able to get the date that the car was manufactured (15/03/2001) from the local Jaguar dealer who cannot access Ford manufacturing dates. If I can prove from a date stamp on the engine that it was manufactured pre 01/03/2001 which is just fifteen days before the finished car left the assembly plant the the emissions regulations are far easier to meet. From the info that I had already found and what is in the two PDF documents then there was a date code on the V8 and on the diesel engine. I have not been able to find the date code from the V6 engine yet.

If what Bob posted isn't what you need you will probably have to contact Jaguar (not a dealer, though they may be able to help at a cost).

Your 3.0 was manufactured at the Cleveland Engine Plant #2, so perhaps FoMoCo might be able to shed some light on its production date. Worth asking...

Unfortunately all that I found was what I already knew. To be fair to the local Jaguar dealer he put in a fair bit of effort to help. From what he told me the engines arrive at the Halewood factory from the Ford Cleveland engine plant and Jaguar would use the serial number for installation purposes. He suggested that it would be no different to any other supplier especially that Ford no longer own Jaguar and any links to the engine plant would have been severed at the divorce.. I think that I may try one of the Ford Forums or Nautilus. Thank you for your help.
