Default 4.2 engine rebuild

Hi everyone i have started rebuilding my 4.2 v8 naturally aspirated engine after two valve seats decided they had enough of being attached to cylinder heads
one thing I have found out they are a very expensive engine to rebuild
My question is
I am about to start doing the timing chains and camshafts
but i can not find any timming marks on engine block
I understand timming is set at 45 degrees atdc
but with out any marks how do i tell
I do also have the timming tool kit to lock crankshaft and camshafts in place
Any help would be appreciated
Thanking you
Darrol

Have you studied both workshop manual & the engine training courses?

there are none they determine the crank cam correlation by just forcing the cams into a known position.

45 degree lock tool then cam flats pointing straight up it’s in the engine repair course 168
