ABS DSC fault C1175 code need help
Hello again!
I was exiting a parking lot yesterday that had a slight dip it when all of a sudden the ABS and DSC icons illuminated as well as messages "DSC not avail" and "cruise control not avail"appeared. I used my OBD scanner and got a c1175 code( LH Rear Wheel speed sensor fault). I can clear the code but not the ABS icon and ABS fault message. When I drive it, the code and other messages come back anyway.
I stuck my hand behind the wheel and tried wiggling the speed sensor wire to no avail. I also disconnected the positive side of the battery for about 30 seconds to see if it would make the constant ABS icon dissapear but to no avail. What should I try before I call the dealer and about how much is a new sensor repair gonna run me?

Yep, clean those wheel speed sensors first. Our 2006 XK8 is notorious for requiring its wheel speed sensors to be cleaned every 6,000 miles or so. They get caked with road grime and begin to throw warning messages on the dashboard. So every time I do a tire rotation on the XK8, I remove all four wheel speed sensors and scrub them with a toothbrush and some dishwashing detergent. A simple, essentially free fix that actually works....
Just don't tell your wife if you decide to use her toothbrush for the job....

Hi. I have a DSC System Fault on my 2002 S Type, but when I run a diagnostic code check, no codes are returned. What are the typical causes for such a fault, and why no codes returned by my ODBII reader? Any help gratefully received.
PS How do I identify the speed sensors mentioned in this thread?

Thanks JagV8. It could be an old battery - I've just acquired the car, so not sure. Is there a simple way to test the battery (or can I just disconnect it for 30 mins to see if the fault clears)? Also you mention an OE-type tool - is that something easily acquired or a professional only tool?
I bought an Autel AL419 OBDII reader. It reads all the normal codes, and records live data. I bought it to diagnose a P153 and P430 code and now have a live stream data, but don't know how to interpret it.
Sorry, lots of questions here! I appreciate your help.
