Question ABS Fault/DSC not available; What are you using to pull the ABS codes?

All,

I am getting the dreaded ABS Fault/DSC Not available error on my Jag. I haved checked the battery, visually inspected all four wheel sensors and cables that run to them and not seeing a problem (no fried cables or damaged sensors). I was wondering if anyone had any luck pulling the ABS fault codes from OBD2 diag tool. I have a innova 3130, but it doesn't pull the ABS codes. I was curious if the top end
innova model (3160 innova model (3160
) which can pull ABS codes for Domestic models (GM, Ford, Chrysler, Toyota and Honda) would work on our Jags. I don't want to spend $200 to find out that it doesn't work.

Has anyone tried pulling the ABS codes with a scanner w/o taking the car to a shop? Please reply to this thread and let us know what scanner you are using.

Hi, I use a Matco Determinator Scanner - 3.0 software platform - w/ European 2005 software. I can see info/code(s) on all modules, including dsc/abs - but this scanner is costly....

Run a search on the forum - there are cheap alternatives out there other members have posted about... good luck

I'm having the same exact problem on my car. It's not happening all the time but it does happen often. What are the possibilities here?

Check this General Tech Help thread for tried, tested and failed scan tools:

Er... what e-brake sensors? I'm reasonably sure there aren't any.

More likely failing battery, damaged ABS sensor(s) or rust particles on the rings the sensor(s) detect. I'd guess #3.

By the grace of God I met a Jag mechanic who spent a couple of hours on a Saturday, at his home ( no less! ), and pulled and repaired my ABS for $150.

There is a solder that gives way, in the ABS module, over time.
You'll find all the answers to your dilemma, here, on the Jag forums. Pics even. Very common problem.
Getting it repaired is another thing-Module Masters, the "Steeler", junk yard...
Many options.
It's just tricky to get to the hex/ torque nuts under the module.

It will not 'heal itself'.
It will continue to irk you until you fix it.
You don't have to be a genius to fix this but above average mechanical skills are required.
I could have done it but why bother when I have a pro who will do it?
The regulars here will sort it out for you.
