Default Abs light after battery change

Sometime ago I changed the battery on my 2003 STR and immediately got a "parking brake fault" message as well as "ABS" icon. I had my cart checked at the local dealer and was told I needed an electric parking brake motor for $900. Prior to the battery change everything was working properly. Is it likely I really need a parking brake motor or can I clear the codes and correct this issue?

There may be no codes to clear but you'd need a dealer tool anyway. You may well just need to recalibrate (reset) the EPB which is covered in the HowTos.

Mine did the same after I put in a new battery. I researched a bit on this forum and found the solution. I think to do the EPB reset as JagV8 stated but I can not remember. Try that or other recommendations from here and keep your $900

EPB reset procedure will clear this up for sure.
