Im curious.
I've had my S-Type 4.0 for a good few months and I've noticed that people all of a sudden hate me out on the roads. Most mechanics and auto parts stores I have been to also immediately change their attitude when they see the car. For instance, I had a low-beam out and I went to NAPA to get a bulb. The mechanic looked at the car and said, "What, a f***ing Jag? Perhaps it's because I'm 19 years old and look about 17 to most people, or maybe its just my luck but I have never seen so many (usually older) men roll their eyes at me in my life.
Im curious to see if this is normal when you drive a car like this. (I came from driving a 93 Nissan Altima so this is all new to me.)

You really can't get more jealousy out of money than spending it on a Jaguar ! LoLOriginally Posted by Nookpad

I used to care, but now I take my Jag for that !

Or, that it musta cost lots so you're a spoiled rich kid?
Hardly anyone knows they cost what they do.
OTOH you need to DIY at least simple stuff or the running costs hurt.
BTW, I suspect most on here have not had the same reaction due to being, er, not quite so young.

Yea the age is probably the main factor.
I agree with the running costs being high. Jag dealers are especially are way over the top on prices.
I almost feel like I need a bumpersticker that says, "STAY BACK- this car might fall apart"

Lots of people here will provide know-how if you'd like to DIY but don't know how / what's within your capabilities.

Lol, seriously, don't worry about it, just laugh it off
It's more their problem than yours.
My youngest son Connor was only just 19 when he got his X type, see below.....

Jeeesh, the stick he got!!
Old mans car and its just a Ford type comments....I told him how to deal with them and now he really pisses them off in a big way, with a huge smile on his face knowing they can't get to him
Instances where customers come in to the shop and ask about the Jag outside where they automatically assume its the 40 year old managers really make him laugh, especially as the manager is driving a Ford Focus, nice car, but not a Jag.
Take it in your stride and know that it's all simply jealousy, pure n simple

Always remember: whenever a Jaguar arrives people notice!

You dreamed of a big star -
He played a mean guitar -
He loved to drive his Jaguar...
So welcome to the machine

A few years ago we had an '06 S-Type. A neighbor lady who walks her dogs around the neighborhood was friendly to my wife whenever they would meet on the street...that was prior to the Jag.
After we got the Jag, she became sorta unfriendly and often would cross the street when she saw my wife coming towards her.
What used to be a brief stop and chat turned into a wave of the hand and on her way.
Not much has changed since then..

If I owned a car parts store or any retail business, and an employee spoke to a customer that way he'd be gone on the spot.
I am getting a slight cough when the car is warm and idling. Ive pulled codes and there is an EVAC and CAT converter code. My mechanic and I agree it's most likely a bad upstream 02 sensor.

Of course it is normal, everybody knows: only drug dealers and pimps drive Jaguars!

Which one are you?
You have to wear heavy gold chain.
Typical Jag owner:

Not very likely, either, as we live some distance apart.
