Default Amsoil Signature Series 5W30 Oil Change 2006 S Type Sport 3.0 175000km

Good evening everyone!
Just had my oil changed today, and this is the first time I am using a synthetic motor oil on my car!

Just wondering if anyone here has used this before?
Specs are amazing.

I've been using Valvoline synthetic for about 2 years. If you have 125,000 miles or less on your car when you sign up, Valvoline will warrant your internal engine parts for 300,000 miles. You must change oil every 4000 miles or less and the maximum payout is $5000. I thought that was a good reason to use Valvoline. There is no cost to sign up.

4K miles? Guess they don't think much of their own product.

Let me chime in with a counter point to 'pointless' comments above.

User oil analysis on modern engines show synthetic oil routinely go above 7500 miles between oil changes. You'll note Mobil 1 advertise 15,000 mile extended oil change interval guarantee for years.

So for Valvoline to give assurance on 4000 mile oil change interval seems 'weak' assurance at best. It almost seem apologetic words from Valvoline for less than par product from them. My five cents.

A few counter-counter points:

The S-types have a 10K mile/16K KM change interval using non-synthetic oil. There's no evidence to indicate that this is adventurous. There is no history of internal engine failure due to lubrication issues.

Buying synthetic oil and still changing it at 10K (never mind 4K) doesn't make sense. Paying 2 or 3 times the price for boutique oils like Amsoil or Purple whatsit that have no proven benefits makes even less sense.

But if it makes the owner happy.........

Maybe so, but the point is "don't waste your money on fancy-schmancy oils when there is no valid evidence regarding the need to do so". We already have to waste enough of our hard-earned money replacing lousy plastic parts and flaky electronics on these cars....
