Smile Another S-Type wheel question

Hello everyone, I'm new here and I will be picking up a new to me 2002 S-Type 4.0 tomorrow. (I'll post pics)

So I know this topic has been beat to death (I've read all 199 of the forum in the past week) but I still have some questions about rims.

I'm pretty set on 19" rims but I really can't afford to shell out $1600 for Forgestars. I found a set of rims on Craigslist I like and I'm just wondering is there any way to make these fit? I know I'll need adapters but I have no idea how those work or how backspacing works.

Here's the link: 19 inch miro rims 5x120

And if those don't work are wheel adapters a good idea? The S-Type's wheel options are just so limited.

Anyway hi everyone! After I get my Jag I'm sure I'll have more questions and contribute a little more here. Seems to be a great community. Much nicer people than on the Jeep forums I frequent.

Has it got revised (metal-bodied) tensioners. Check the guides, too. Don't buy rims if your engine is at risk!!

I'm not sure I'll check them when I pick the car up. My guess would they're the old ones.

If I recall correctly the size you need is 5 X 108 (corrected - looked up) - This is for 2000-2002 S Types - so, either way the rims your looking at will not fit. I don't know about adapters. Looks like the 19" tire size should be ok... but the 2002 had 17" tires from the factory...

The other, bigger concern is the tensioners as JagV8 mentioned. If the old tensioners are still employed - your asking for trouble. Take the $$$ and invest in metal upgraded tensioners. (How many miles on the car?)

I've got 19" Caravelas from a 2012 XF. Bolted right on, no clearance problems.

Stick with another factory wheel with the 5x108 bolt pattern - 09 & newer XF, 2010 & newer XJ, 04 & up XJ8 & XJR, 04 & newer X-Type.

The car has about 78,000 mils on it. I'll make a thread for it tomorrow when I take more pictures. About how much do the metal tensioners cost? Is that all I have to replace to fix that specific issue?

Those wheels will not work on your car. To ensure proper fitment and to be vibration free, your wheels need to meet Jaguar's specification regarding the following four criteria:

1) Bolt Pattern
2) Bolt Size
3) Offset
4) Centerbore

Jaguar has very specific numbers regarding these four criteria. From what I have seen of the wheels you posted, they meet none of these. The amount of work it would take to make these fit, it would be just cheaper to go with either someone else's used STR wheels, or you are pretty much left with buying Forgestar wheels (or $$$$ custom forged aluminum wheels).

Sorry....
