Default Any tips on replacing the engine air filter?

I searched and didn't find an answer for the S Type. I have a 2003 V8. I can get the 2 latches on the outside to open but can barely get the lid open enough to slide out the old filter and put the new one in. I'd like to be able to vacuum out the housing while I'm at it.
I also searched YouTube. I find a bunch of posts and videos on the cabin air filter but not the engine filter.
Thanks.

Take out the 1- 13mm(?) bolt, remove the cold air intake tube, remove MAF sensor wire, remove entire air box.

I know vance580 made a video of modifing the airbox lid but I can't find it.

Make sure you have the correct air filter replacement!

Just the STR, the others tend to have a wire & connector that people wonder what they're for...

I changed my air filter this morning as part of my 72,000-mile service on our S-Type. Removing the air box is the only way to properly accomplish this task without running the risk of cracking the air box....

The STP SA9513 air filter I purchased from Autozone last month fit perfectly. It is the only aftermarket air filter I have found that fits....

Thanks so much all. I don't mind doing the work but don't have the knowledge sometimes.
