Default auto headlights wont turn off

S-Type 3.0 2002

Iv noticed since iv had the car that the headlight section button when put in auto never turn off during daylight. They just stay on all the time. Iv notice a red led light that blinks when you set the alarm on the car next to it is a uv sensor. What can cause this?

Welcome to the forum eribel03,

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to S-Type forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

Headlights should eventually extinguish even in Auto mode, so I'd guess you have some issue with the Auto mode electronics or stalk, but not an expert. Others with more experience will probably chime in.

Have you done a search on the forum. Surely you're not the first owner to have this issue. Search should always be your first approach to solving any problem.

As a workaround, try turning headlights on and off manually.

The blinking red light is normal when security is active.

My guess is the UV sensor on the dash, mine have been that way for a while now as I haven't had time to get to it.
Be very careful with the plastic dash panel if you remove it, they break easily.

I think he means they stay on when he is driving.

Maybe the car is configured for DRL.

Perhaps I misunderstood the question.

eribel03 - can you describe your problem a little more precisely?
