Default Back up sensors not working after bumper painted

I had rear bumper painted. Now I get about 4 second beep when I put in reverse. I assume these cannot be painted? Bumper have to be removed to get to them? Can I scratch off paint and lightly sand?

Thanks in advance

One or more of your sensors probably has not been plugged back in. Check that out. A thin layer of paint should not be a problem. Take it back to the body shop if you need to. It is their responsibility to make it right if they were working before.

Put the key in and turn all the way without starting the car. Put the car in reverse and get out. Put your ear up to each sensor - you should hear a clicking sound - repeat for all. If ya find one not clicking that is where your problem is.

Proceed accordingly...

I agree. I ruined one of mine trying to unplug it. I then learned that a WD40 soak would have prevented this. I got a used one off ebay that was green and painted it white to match. Works fine so paint isn't the problem.

Check the connections on the two sensors that are not clicking and the controller connections (small black box) located in the spare tire well...

Yes, but not readable by ordinary OBD tools so it gets expensive to find out what the codes are

Same story for CCM/RCCM, ABS/DSC and so on.

It's why I bought an OBD tool that reads all these modules. Most members are not willing to spend the $$$ to do that. (I think about $450.)
