Default battery access

Just another stupid question maybe, but I haven't owned this car for very long and am still discovering things about it. Now a sticky problem. I wasn't going to use the vehicle through our winters. so it has been sitting for a couple of months and I have been remiss in not starting it periodically. And so today I tried and the battery is of course.....flat. However on trying to open the trunk to access it for charging I can't get the trunk to open, the button on the key won't work, the button on the lower dash won't work and the button on the trunk does nothing. Hence the trunk won't open. Any thoughts out there?

Look in the underneath area of the trunk lid where the button is. A couple inches to the left should be a keyhole with a slide cover. Your ignition key should open the trunk from there. Sometimes non use can make it sticky and hard to insert the key fully and even turn. A green valet key will not work unless it is modified

There's an actual lock you can put the key in

On mine, near the boot (trunk) letter U but look carefully.

Thank you muchly! Not to the left, and no sliding cover, but 2" to the right in a hidden recess. Different year maybe, or country. I thought I looked before, but missed it and your suggestion led me to look again. Thought it odd that there wouldn't be some sort of mechanical backup or a charging plug under the hood.

You can easily tap into the electrical system under the hood for charging, as detailed here:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ng-port-87362/

So if you can open the hood, that would be the easiest place to connect a charger and bring the battery back to life. Do NOT try a jump start from there, as this will quickly blow the fuse.

For anybody who ever finds themselves totally locked out with a dead battery, and the key won't physically unlock the door or trunk, Jaguar provided what is called the +VE stud. You could charge the battery from there without opening the doors, hood, or trunk. See post #3 in the linked thread for more details. It is located aft of the front right tire, under the fender liner:
