The upstream O2 sensors are the same that are before the catalytic converter but differ from the downstream O2 sensors located after the CAT.
They differ from front to back not side to side (or bank to bank).

OK, now we know code P1647 is the driver's side, bank 1 but how do we know it is the front O2 sensor before the cat instesd of one after the cat. I can find no obd II code for the after cat sensor.
