not yet as I’ve been at work, will have a look again Saturday. I’ve got the barrel from boot out and operating it on a cable I pull through the back seats, I’ve got two batteries so if I stop I can swap over.
got a update…. Driving to work tonight and the center screen went off whilst driving… followed by abs, gearbox dcs faults, battery light came on then steering went…. Managed to pull into a garage which was closed and changed battery as I took a spare… popped the bonnet and again smoke out of it but this time there were embers at the bottom, have a vid of it. After I changed battery I limped home instead of going to work. Could there be a earth problem?

It looks to be right about where your alternator is. I will check to see if there are any wires that are rubbing up against the engine shorting out
I’ve tried posting a vid but it won’t upload, if that’s the case could that be the route of my issues? I do appreciate all the guidance. I bought the car in January and have had nothing but grief.
I drove the car home and the glow had gone so I’d assume the air cooled it?
Yeah, I'd say that's an update. First things first, if the car is somehow spitting out glowing embers, do not continue driving it as is. Whatever the root cause may be, it needs immediate attention before causing a fire.
Give the wiring in that area a good visual inspection, especially the heavy cable. If you don't find any places worn from rubbing against ground, your most likely culprit is the alternator itself.

oh for sure it’s not being driven now, I’ve likely lost my new job over it as I’ve broken down like 3 times in the first two weeks lol. I mean I changed the battery and limped home but then took the battery off. Here’s something before I put on charge the battery that was on when it went sideways I thought I’d check it’s voltage.. was 12.08 which is clearly enough to crank, sure not ideal but it wasn’t flat like prior, perhaps the embers were a blessing kinda as it may be a indicator as to where to look.
When I got home and lifted the bonnet there was no glowing so I assume the slow plod home must’ve cooled it. I realise moving it was a dangerous play but sitting next to a petrol pump seemed dangerous to. So the alternator seems to charge when stationary as the voltage on battery goes up but when it runs there’s friction, I don’t know but could the vibration of driving cause wires near there to rub when they shouldn’t?
The deeshul variant was never sold over here "across the pond," but as I recall, things are crammed in the engine bay pretty snugly, so getting an adequate view from above may prove problematical. Do you have access to a lift so a proper look-see can be undertaken from below... ?
