I tried a search for this , no results.
I'm replacing all 8 coils on my 2001 4.0 with 70k miles so I want to replace the plugs at the same time.
My Toronto Jag dealer wants $23 ea for Iridium which is more than I want to spend. The local parts store wants $21 for NGK Laser PFR5G-13E (part #2761)which is what the NGK site recommends.
I talked to my indy tech who said not to buy Bosch platinums and he recommended getting plugs which were properly gapped (.050) right out of the box. Has anyone had any luck with other plugs for this car?
I'm looking for a platinum plug or better with an .050 gap at a cheaper price.
Please reply with part number if you can help.

The OEM plugs lasted you 70,000 miles so there's no doubt that they are reliable and durable. There's no credible data (that I've seen) indicating that other brands are better or worse. Why be the guinea pig to find out that maybe some are worse?

Determine the correct OEM part number and do a search on the internet to find who has the best price and delivery cost.

 

Try Amazon, too. There are some surprising bargains on there.

 

You can try Rockauto.com. I just put NGK iridium plugs in the 4.0 S/C engine. I went with the iridium, as I wanted the longevity they offer. From everything I have read, they aren't going to do anything for performance, but the factory platinum's didn't wear very well.

It appears they would run about $7.50 each.

 

my car has no acceleration so i went to change plugs and found oil on the threaded part.
thought i would try nonfoulers to lift plug out a little.
stupidly I attached the nonfouler to the plug and installed it.
did not solve the problem. car actually threw misfire code, which it did not berfore. Now I have a new problem. when removing the plug the nonfouler stayed in and the 11/16 socket i need to remove it with does not fit into spark plug tube!
Does any one have any ideas how to get it out? Does the the tube come out?

I put in the plugs that the Jag manual calls for. They went 80000 with no problems. so I figured I'd put the same ones back in. I got a good price at sparkplugs.com.

 

I installed the Bosch platinum 4’s (4501) and they ran great then and runs great now. And yes you can get great deals on Amazon.com if you are not in a rush.

I ended up buying NGK Iridium from the dealer here in Toronto.
They were installed today with new coils that I bought on ebay. Engine is now running perfectly with no more low rpm hesitation when going up hills or rough idling. I wish I had done this a long time ago.

Im still curious to know what non-foulers are.

 

if your plug is fouling supposedly you insert this into the plug port and then the plug into nonfouler. Temporary fix till you can figure out what is fouling the plugs. Did not work for me.
people also use them on their o2 sensors, somehow helps them pass emissions test.
By the way i was able to get the nonfouler out after taking off valve cover and wedging a chisel in so I could unscrew.

 

at risk of seaming like a plug, I bought most of my parts from these guys. They really are the best in my opinion
