I've searched for the situation I'm having and have not been able to find it. I have the bluetooth microphone on the roof near my console but am getting a message that I have not been able to find in searching the forum.

When I push the phone button I get a mute or hang up message. I have the module in the stack of av equipment in the trunk. What am I missing?

It's a 2006 STR.

Maybe mic goes nowhere i.e. module(s) not fitted.

 

The phone module originally was designed for a wired motorola phone in the center console and the BTUM just emulates that phone via bluetooth.

When the phone module (in the trunk) can not find/initialize the handset (in the center console) it displays "handset in use" if you have nav system. I'm not sure what it shows when you have standard radio - but the message you describe looks like a good fit.

Check if you have the BTUM in the center console and that it is properly connected.
