Brake Caliper Issue
Hi...The Drivers Side rear wheel locks.. "Park Brake Fault Error" on Dashboard..it clears...drivable...I think the Caliper needs to be replaced..not sure though...The wheel hub gets hot when this happens...does not happen all the time..intermittent...most of the time its ok...very bizarre ... I drive a Jaguar S-Type 3.0 V6 ...
I just recently bought the vehicle...not sure of the age of the battery...Gonna get it tested by a mechanic...Can any garage check a Jaguar Battery?...or do I need to go to a Jaguar Service Centre?...Thanks for your help...
The EPB can be exercised manually to check it's operation. With the wheel removed, car securely placed on axle stands blah blah blah, have a helper apply and release the EPB while you monitor the free movement of the cable and caliper lever.
If your car has seen salt then it's not bizarre at all! If fact very common to happen. Since it's only one side my bet is the cable or caliper needs replacing.
But follow what Mikey posted as you will need to just inspect everything while its operating.
If the battery needs replacing I like the Bosch version as it has the correct battery vent on both sides and comes with a plug for the side not used.

Last year, about this time, I replaced the battery in my 06 4.2 S. It
didn't seem to be causing any problems; however, at six years, I
felt a precautionary replacement was prudent. I went with Bosch
also; excellent warranty!
Until you get your problem fixed, get in the habit of depressing the
chrome parking brake switch on your console BEFORE you withdraw
the key after you have shut down the engine; this will prevent the
activation of the parking brake motor.
Also suggest you move to YVR to avoid salt and the frosty part
of the Great White North. Then again, the average price of a home
in Vancouver is about 750 grand CDN. You could buy a hell of a lot
of calipers for that.
