Default Carpet Mats

Good Morning,

Andre here, long time Jag guy but only recently joined the forum and I find a lot of this stuff interesting. I wish that I knew about it before. I have a low mileage 2003 S-Type V8 in great condition. As you all probably experienced, the carpet mats fall apart after this many years. I also have a 2006 S-Type V6, that I gave to my daughter many years ago, that I re-acquired (after she beat it up pretty good) and I have the same issue with the carpet mats. Sorry for the long and boring story but I bought the 2003 because it had low mileage and I love the esthetics of this car.

I was hoping to replace them with originals but it seems that it is not going to happen, according to the rep at SNG Barratt. I was told to try one of the Trim and Upholstery shops to manufacture them. I looked up World upholstery and Trim and got some colour swatches but none of them seem to match quite right. BTW: I saw really negative reviews of this company. To make a long story shorter, can anyone give me a lead on a Trim Shop that can help me out? I am looking for as close to the original colour as possible with the OEM design, grommets and all.

My trim colour is: NED which is supposedly Ivory and this is also pretty confusing because the trim in the car has a mix of Ivory and some other much darker colour. I read somewhere else that it might be Sable, whatever that is.

Anyway, thanks for some great content and I would be very appreciative to get some help on this.

Jaguar 'A' pages list the trims and combinations.

Thanks for that. It helps a lot. The chart is still a bit confusing to me since I am not sure what some of this trim actually is called.

For example: I need to change the escutcheon on the inside passenger side door pull, the colour looks different, slightly lighter, than the rest of the trim. I spoke to the rep at SNG Barratt and they told me to speak to a dealership to verify the colour.

They sure make it complicated...back seat door trim is also different than the front seat door trim????

I purchased a custom set from Lloyd Mats 3-4 years ago; they fit nicely and are holding up well. The color was not a perfect match, but close enough to look nice. Their website is:

Lloyd Mats Store: Custom Car Floor Mats, Truck Floor Mats, SUV Floor Mats

Thanks, I checked out their website and selected some colour samples. Do they include the grommets on your mats?

Well, I got myself perfect new mats...:
I took the original (falling apart) mats to a carpet shop.
They have remnants (i.e. left over bits and pieces of carpet). Find yourself either a carpet colour, which is close the the original or one, which matches nicely in a two-tone-combination with the carpet in the car. Then I gave them the old mat as "pattern sample" (i.e. for the shape to be copied) and they created 2 perfect front mats for AU$20, which is nothing. They have a big solid overlocker sawing machine to nicely create a boarder around the mat. Looks OE. We have 2 carpet shops in town. One could to that, the other one could not. So, you have to look for a carpet shop, which can do it...

PS: I added the riveted large holes myself, which are needed to make sure that the mat does not move about.

I will definitely check that out. Thanks for the input, greatly appreciated. I am hoping they can make the grommet holes too.

My local carpet shop could not do the grommet holes (eyelets).
That did not worry me. I bought somewhere a cheap DIY kit - maybe on ebay or Aliexpress. DIY was not a problem at all.
If they could have done if, it would have cost quite a bit more, I assume.

(That "ignore" by Staatsof most probably means, that he initially wrote something, posted it, and then he decided to not post it - but the is no delete option for a comment, only an edit, hence, he probably edited the old comment to "ignore" - hence: ignore... )

Spot on. I was going to recommend them as well but when I went to their website I saw that they no longer offer what I bought which were very nice AND that they've been bought out by Covercaft. That's another company that's no longer quite the same.I just got a new cover for my STR and we'll see how that is after another winter outdoors.

Give rimmerbros a look seem to have most of the colours, and in LHD.

As mentioned above I had my new bespoke S-Type front carpets done at a local carpet shop.
AU$20 the pair. I love them. Not to be snubbed at.
I placed my DIY eyelet (grommet hole) kits onto the carpet. The kits come with the required tool. One kit is from Aldi, the other I think from ebay or Aliexpress. I had those kits anyway.

Thanks, called them only to find out that they don't have anything available despite their website stating that they do. Referred me to a Jaguar Forum for other ideas.....

Looks like the carpet store might be the best answer although I am not keen to install my grommets. I am still waiting to hear from Lloyd's but no response yet.

Doing the grommets yourself is pretty much the easiest DIY job I can think of...
