Default CEL and restricted performance when gas tank over half??

This has happened twice so far... if I fill up the gas tank, I will get a CEL and restricted performance after 1 drive cycle.
It will stay there and restricted performance will leave after an undetermined amount of drive cycles / miles, but CEL will remain.

Once gas falls below half a tank as indicated in gauge cluster, CEL disappears as well.

Any ideas??

Read the DTCs (codes) and freeze frame data - they're stored for good reasons

the codes are "lean" for both banks, i should've mentioned that previously.
could it be fuel pump? filter?

If you didn't overfill it, see https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=33999
I doubt it'll be the fuel pump. The fuel filter is easy and cheap to change so wouldn't hurt to try that.

This is a weird one!! Never had anyone post these symptoms before???

I have attached a TSB concerning fuel injectors. Maybe a cleaning would help and not be too expensive?? How many miles on the car?? I would think higher mileage would lead to injector fouling but I have not found this to be true. I have run several cars to over 200K miles without changing injectors or even cleaning them.

If you find the problem, please post back to the list!!

One of the issues with the Jaguar fuel injectors is that the orifices are almost microscopic in size and do indeed tend to get clogged as the miles roll by. The techs on this forum have all agreed that this can become an issue if it isn't addressed periodically.

I pour a 20-ounce bottle of Chevron Techron into our S-Type's fuel tank every time I do an oil & filter change (6,000-mile intervals). While I know that won't give me absolutely pristine injectors like a professional fuel injector service will, it sure seems to help. About 42,200 miles on our S-Type right now and it's running like a champ. Techron is a great product, probably the best fuel injection system cleaner that a non-professional can buy. I use it in all three of our vehicles, but especially in the S-Type....
