Ok the first pic on that add is not of the STR, thats likely a pic he got off the google. the second and third pics are of an STR. However at 5k that car is either loaded with miles or has a rebuilt title. Either that or needs major work done to the mechanics of the car. I would have the car checked out inside and out by a good mechanic before considering buying it. At 5k it sounds too good to be true.

 

Without the miles, its anybody's guess of the condition. Heck, those pictures might be when HE bought it.

When the seller lists a problem and states its an easy fix, you gotta wonder why they didn't fix it themselves? Would not that make the car more desirable?

I have a little guideline for buying vehicles. The amount of time and effort the seller puts into the ad, is a reflection of the amount of time and effort they put into owning the car. Short, non-descriptive, aloof ad - then they were aloof with the maintenance and care of the car.

For me, my ads have been novels.

Really, two crappy pictures of the car? Its not like the seller has to pay for his ad. I am going to guess that the car has every problem an STR could have, and the seller has a remaining $4587 on the auto loan. He still wants to make some money.

Hmm, I am guessing if you were the ask the guy for the VIN, so that you could do a carfax, he would either never reply, avoid the question, or hem and haw until you were blue in the face.

Yeah, the car is one to consider, but don't think its a good deal until you actually see it, drive it, and check it out.

Hey, I'm not right next door to KY, but am within striking distance. Maybe we in the forum can pull together a few bucks and buy the thing. We can use that as a Test Mule, (Maybe ship it to AVOS) so we can get our MOD's to our own vehicles.....

Just few days back a 03 silver Str came into the auction with 83k miles, very clean inside and out, just missed it. Sold for $6,700.

 

Guys I would talk to Avos before chipping & buying this car as a mule for him.

Don't forget shipping costs from the US to Belgium will be at least another $4K plus he would have to pay import duty & taxes.

If you really want to get him a mule, there are cheaper ways to go about it than shipping a car from the US.

 

If you guys get it I can hold on to it here. I can pull the intake for Avos and help out with measurements. Once he has something I can install it and put some miles on her to make sure everything is good and to test the reliability of the system. This is all for the group and in the name of development. I won't enjoy it one bit.

Agree with clubairth. Avos just needs intake manifold and some measurements.

 

I suspect he already has access to cars.

 

No need for this, the bases for the intake has been designed, and as it looks now only some fine tuning is needed to get it right. I am working with someone in the States to make the 3d drawings and as he is having an STR, he actively participates also in the design as he can immediately check the design/measurements. This is the only piece left, so hopefully in the next month we can finish this major part.

Just to let you know I am committed to finish this project, but it will take some time as you can see. Once this part is finished and produced, an install can be planned (Sorry, already reserved), and only after that one is finished and satisfactory, a next install can be planned.

 

Hi Avos. After the base for the blower is produced can a template be made for higher production?

 

How many per month do you need?

The designs are in 3D CAD files and are made in such a way that they can be easily CNC'ed, so basically an unlimited amount can be produced.

But there will still be some work in fitting, although any good shop will be able to do so, no need to ship your car here ;-).

 

I dream of a 2003+ S-Type R with 500+hp, 6speed manual, AWD or even LSD. Mmmmmmmm happy place.
