Check Engine symbol light 2006 Jaguar S Type 4.2.
I had brought my car to mechanic because it wouldn't start. very cold nights here and car is outside, thought it was my battery burt it wasn't. It was my started which he replaced. Picked it up and ran okay. Next day the check engine light came on , he checked it out again and all looked okay, all spark plugs were new from not a year ago and still look good. Then I give it a real big acceleration and the "restricted Performance " error came on. Any ideas would be appreciated? Also, could it be the catalytic converter as someone mentioned to me?
Firstly, how many kilometres/miles are on the vehicle and are there any DTCs stored? If the MIL is on, there are DTCs that have been set. Post them here.
Under no circumstances is the vehicle to be operated under conditions that cause the MIL to flash as catalyst damage is occurring.

Go back to when it actually was running and retrace the steps you did, what pieces you touched.moved.disturbed and see if there might be something you damaged or pinched or did not reconnect. Typically you do not get CANBUS type errors unless something is disconnected or damaged or somehow otherwise disturbed. Sounds like it is time to take it to a dealer or independent specialist very familiar with these cars because it sounds like the more you work on it and teh more parts you throw at it the worse the situation gets.
