Default climate control module

Hi firstly my car is 2002 s type r non sat nav model now my climate control module display is playing up problem is with the actual lcd display from what I have seen there are 3 models one for sat nav cars that fits behind the glove box, 2 non sat nav ones one has front defrost the other dose not my car has the non sat nav non front defrost model contacted an online jag parts supplier as he had one identical to my one he claims the one I saw will only fit a diesel s type and the s type r one is complety diffrent quoting £600+ fora new one and £250+ for a good used one is he wrong or am I wrong I did give him my vin number

The model year you're quoting might be confusing the issue. The S-type R did not come out until 2002.5 in the UK and 2003 elsewhere.

my one was registered june 2002 but surely the str dose not have a diffrent climate control module to the other s type's I did quote him my vin number
