Default P1572

I received the same code and purchased the circuit switch from the local Jaguar dealer. When I took out the original part, by the brake pedal and compared it to the new part, I found that the push button stick (part) of the original part is about a quarter inch shorter than the new part. On the origonal part the push button stick is about 3/4 inch long and on the new part the push button sticks is about about 1 inch long. Did I get the correct part out of the car (brake circuit switch) and not the cruise control circuit switch? Can someone please help me with this? Thanks.

Sorry Bojangles, I have to disagree with you. There's only one real way to drive any automatic and that's with two feet! The only reason that they don't train drivers to use both feet is because some might press the gas instead of the brake in a panic situation. (IM not so HO)
I'll bet I get an argument about this one!

Ok! Problem seemed to have been solved. The tech who helps me, has installed the part (push button stick is a 1/4 inch longer than the original part) and it seem to work fine. However, new problem has popped up... This is the second time I am receiving misfire code on cylinder 5 and the car drives literally with jerks and not enough power. I have already replaced the coil twice withing the last 2 months. Any suggestion... harness or ECU? Thanks.

Is there oil pooling in the sparkplug well? Could be a failing seal.

Vehicle information would be nice!

Are you changing the right coil? Which engine do you have?

Are you sure you are changing the correct coil? The coil designation and numbering can get confusing. Check it with the attached.

Spark plugs?? Are they correct, good and gapped correctly?

Good luck!

I made a great mistake of not stating the specs on my car. I have a 2000 S-Type with 3.0 V6. Cylinder 5 is on the driver's side, as I was told by my tech helper. Actually, all of the spark plugs were replaced the first time around, along with the coils (as the fault code indicated) on the driver's side. There were no fault codes for the coils on the passenger side coils. Therefore, I am at a lost as this is the secnd time I am receiving misfire on cylinder 5. The tech also found additional 2 "unknown" codes and he suggested that I take it to a Jaguar dealership, here at San Diego. I am skeptic and I probably have to leave either my arm and/or a leg with the dealership inorder to have the car fixed. Via the internet search I read that sometime the harness and also issues with the ECU can cause to show the misfire. In reality the coil and the spark plugs maybe okay. Please let me know whay the plug gaps should be so that I can recheck them. Thanks.

There are no unknown codes except by those who shouldn't really be reading them!! If you know the codes post them and someone will explain

You could have an air leak, a very common thing on your engine & era car. Search will get you details, try words such as
leak
hose
elbow

Or you could have a cat gone/going bad. Or even a dribbling/blocked injector. The leak is common, though.

Plugs come pregapped if they're the right ones. I guess the spec's in either JTIS or the Vehicle Specs PDF (see the FAQs).

Actually it would have been smart of me to ask.......

I have added the V6 document to the earlier post, I would still check to be sure you are working the correct cylinder. The V6 plug gap is 1.3mm or .051 inches.

Good luck!

its because they self adjust when new. Once you install and release the brake pdeal the "racheting" youll hear is the switch adjusting.
Swap your coils and plugs and see if the problem follows the coils

Thanks to this old thread I got rid of P1572.
I first tried taping the existing switch in the bottom position. Light went off, this is how I knew it is the switch that is faulty.
I managed to install a second hand switch I got with $5 from ebay that fixed the light. (I had to reset the light with a $10 OBDII-reader + Android phone with free Torque installed)

The switch is the blue one, not the grey one. (Model 2001, 3.0) Grey one is the brake light switch, blue has to do with cruise control etc.
