Cooling fans running alot
OK so I replaced water pump ,thermostat, and housing while doing my tensioner job. Now I have cooling fans running alot even after car shuts down they run for couple of minutes . Gage stays at center 12 o'clock position after warm up. Also I notice a slight coolant smell upon exiting the vehicle. No puddles or drops on floor in garage or any leaks I can see. I have opened the bleeder valve up by the brake booster a couple of times and appears to have all air removed from system. According to previous owners paperwork, expansion tank was replaced. I didn't have these symptoms prior to the work I did on the car. So I can only surmise I have an issue caused by the tear down.Temps have been in the 60's outside here so not to warm out yet. Car runs fine as it should and both heat and A/C work fine. Would a fill and flush/pressure test provide a possible answer for this.Any ideas as to where else I might check? Thermostat was installed into housing with brass ball vent at top of housing. Thanks.
I had the same problem (cooling fan) with my 03'. I replaced the thermostat with one from Autozone but it only made the matter worse. The fan ran all the time. I returned it and got the OEM from the Jag dealer. Works great now.
