Default Custom Exhaust - Resonator Delete + MagnaFlow Mufflers

Hi guys,

Has anyone here with a V6 removed the resonator and put on some aftermarket mufflers? I have an X-Type 3.0 and I have MagnaFlow mufflers on right now. It's a bit louder than stock and I like the sound, but I want to get the resonator removed to sound a little bit more throaty and aggressive.

Has anyone done this? Or anything similar to this? I'd really like to hear what it sounds like.

The S-Type's quite a bit different so you'd be better asking in the X-Type forum instead.

Same engine though right? The AJ-V6? Is just the piping different? I tried in the X-Type section and nobody had a video clip of it. Just wondering if someone had it here.

So much is different from body panels and sound deadening to whether FWD / AWD / RWD, etc.

Generally people say how noisy & tinny the X-Type is compared to the S-Type and you're wondering about sound....

LOL! Bacardi you card. EZ534... (ya could delete a number or two from your call name), I performed every exhaust mod imaginable on a 2002 X-Type 3.0, even placed on Ford Taurus exhaust manifolds and ran it all through a Dodge V8 dual inlet single outlet cat, delete center resonator, dumping it all out of a pair of Magnaflows. Result? Way too much interior cabin drone. First delete the center resonator while maintaining the stock mufflers. You'll notice a little more growl. Not good enough? Place on Magnaflow or Borla mufflers. This auta do the trick.

Do you have an sound or video clips?? And how about the centre resonator removed with a magnaflow muffler? I'd really like to hear that.

Sorry, never thought of memorializng the exhaust note. The problem with messing with V6's is that their exhaust notes resonate at much higher frquencies than V8's. Cabin harmonics can be very annoying. You'll definitely have a bunch more noise by deleting center resonator and placing Magnaflows at the stern. You'll only notice a subtle more growl by deleting the center resonator alone...how about just popping on Magnaflows. Start here...this should do the trick.

I already have MagnaFlows on now and I want just a little more.

I like this sound: Jaguar X-Type 3.0 Sport Exhaust Noise - Supercar Sunday 2009 (Heritage Motor Centre) - YouTube

Heres a sound clip of the new setup without the resonator. I like the sound a lot more now. In this clip, I was going under a bridge/tunnel sort of thing so you can hear it better, and I was also at pretty low RPMs.

I think your computer should know how to open it, I'm not sure how to unzip it if it doesn't open. Thanks though!
