I have searched the forums and most everything is for 2004 maybe or 2005 & up - JLR SDD v130 thru 139 (can't find 130 anymore). Somewhere it said this new SDD software would fall back to IDS for prior years (2004 down), so I bought a cheap version of 138 and loaded it up. The mongoose worked ok, read the VIN even, and then SDD said no and gave me the option to load Legacy IDS tools. Well long story short IDS does not load and the wonderful Chinese sellers just say I told you it was 2005 & up!. Has anyone found a version of JLR SDD that will default to IDS and open the legacy tools part of the software?

I am fed up with Autoenginuity and especially their new version - if all I wanted to do was read and reset codes I can do it for a lot less. I thought AE was able to address 2 way communications for most of the parts/sensors (i.e. Open or Close evap valve - one of the things i want to do), but it can't.

So my question is what software can I (not a dealer) get for a 2003 (M56944) s type and what range of 2 way (reprogram or activate deactivate) functionality does it have.

Any help would be appreciated.

 

I think IDS should work, the seller hasn't a clue. And that's it - they're a seller not a software developer and the seller doesn't know our cars.

Maybe someone will know what to do.

 

I havent yet bought it but one of our members here says he's bought the OBD2( UOBD2.net ) for $49.99 and says it works for the earlier cars, although it doesn't say so.

 

I believe this site is the same as where I got my 138 version from - CarSets UK OBD eShop - Cheap Auto Diagnostic & Car Key Chips. They both look similar and have the same live support person via skype. For all I know the SDD part of the software does work for 2005 & up. It actually asks for the VIN number and then decides if it loads SDD or asks you to load the IDS Legacy tools and this is where it displays the IDS Legacy splash screen and then does nothing. They have patched the SDD part of the software but not the IDS bit.

I have found a UK company that says it has the IDS SDD 130 version loading IDS (probably around $60 can for the software) but am reticent to buy as I don't know if my "cheap" mongoose will work with it.

Does any one have a working v130 that loads IDS for pre 2004 cars?

 

I would drop a note to member Six Rotors as he was the one who suggested the above alternative. He has a 2004 S type and has stated "My current device came with V130 which works fine with IDS cars."
