Driving It Hard & The Wear?
LQQKs @ the last two responses and wonders what's wrong with him?? @50 and still operating like he's 19. I must have that Peter Pan gene... yep, that's it. But, I've got bigg dogg pockets so I'll definitely be looking to get another STR to keep while I try to get the paint to peel off of this one by going MACH Speeds LOL.....
But, only after the temperature Gauge is right in the middle......

So what would be the deal to get on a track? You ain't insured if things go wrong? Its not the regular road that prevents me from lighting her up; its the unpredictable other motorists intheir slightly fast fraud focuses.... So how many of you guys and gals get on a track where things are more predictable?
Did the track thing already. In the Mid 90's, had two cars in which I put roll cages, have the helmets, gloves suits etc (can't fit them anymore... too ummm thick, won't say fat). I more now enjoy just simple light to light stuff at off hours in clearly vacant places. Never darting in and out of traffic. When we went to the meet in PA last year, where I met, Vance, ChrisX, JOsworth, Jim Bodyman, Norri and JoycesJag, I went 270, to 70 westbount to 68 westbound.
That roadway has almost no traffic on it. I've done that route several times going over to cumberland county to enhance their network and to Pittsburg. You have so many spots on that roadway where you can blast your speedometer to the max without fear of anything but a blowout (I keep excellent rubbers on the car and make sure it's well maintained). I was wishing the guys headed south from there would have followed me back because it would have been a hoot.
There were a few corvettes from that meet that came back the same way (about 7) and we did about 159 for at least 22 miles in the longest clip with no other traffic in contention. I love speed but am not irresponsible or just plain stupid and don't open this baby up where it could impact innocents or frighten someone into a point of indecision. During that one trip back from the meet, a couple of souped up trucks joined the convoy also and we all got off about 15 miles short of 270 to eat and talk about the excitement of running so hard so long. Straight Bee Line with 8 car lenghts between each vehicle.

Interstate 68 from Morgantown past Cumberland is a great stretch of road! Usually very little semi truck traffic, and West Virginia speed limits are fairly high for the East Coast and I rarely see police on that road. However, once you get into Maryland all that changes and the cops are everywhere. I've been gigged on that road twice driving from Pittsburgh to DC or Baltimore. Both times in Maryland, where they cops will have 2 troopers with radar guns, then a whole slew of chase cruisers lined up and they just get everybody.
But anyway, that is a nice road for some high speed driving. Except in the winter - it can be seriously nasty in the wintertime in the mountains.
