Default Engine Number Location

OK . .dumb question . . where on the 2000 4.0l engine is the engine number located? Is it a stamped number in casting or a flimsy sticker that probably fell off a long time ago?

It's all in the JTIS. This is the factory shop manual and is free at the top of this forum. Tells you how to decode the numbers.

Here is the 4.2L engine stamping spot.

and to complete this. Here is the 6 speed ZF tag position.

If you have V6 like your name here then it's irrelevant! But probably in JTIS - did you look?

That's a good point and I have only worked on the V-8's.

The V6 in my name, isn't in reference to a V6 engine.

For anyone who stumbles upon this post and doesn't want to bother with JTIS, here's the answer as posted by Cambo351 in another thread yesterday:

"It's on the left hand bank, at the very rear of the engine block, just below where the head meets the block."
