If you watch this video you will see how to check your catalyst.

You just have to use the two O2 sensors upstream and downstream stream

Ducmon, thank you for the video. Again I am not mechanically inclined to the effect of "spark plugs do what now?"

That said, today check engine light has reappeared after running some higher rpms on the highway, which I assume completed the computer's drive cycle test.

The sensor's still look good, and I do remember seeing them as brand new looking when I first purchased, so unless they go bad after 1-2 years it may just be the cat or something happening within the engine, still a suspicion because of that ticking appearing.

Shall see, I may have to just go ahead and pay the money for the cat.

Sounds to me an idler pulley or alternator bearing about to go out big time. I'd be more concerned with this as it can leave you stranded in the most inconvenient places. The slight ticking in the rear appears to be normal injector sound. Take a spray bottle with plain tap water in it, and shoot it at the belt to isolate the sound from the belt area to make a spot on diagnosis.

Ticking came back...

New video for you guys conveying just how bad the ticking is and where I think it may be potentially coming from. Bear in mind I use the word "hose" and I reconcile that is not just a regular hose; however, I don't know what those are or are called.

Does the ticking increase in conjunction with engine revs? If so your issue might be valvetrain related. Maybe a noisy lifter. Have you checked both fuel injectors in the back for excessive noise?

It will increase with rpms when you rev up the engine.

I'm not entirely sure what the injectors look like, is that what my hand was on or when you say the back you mean like way back there?

After listening to the video in post 26, it sounds to me very much like an exhaust leak.

The best way for you to check if it is an exhaust leak would be to make yourself a smoker and look to see if you can see any smoke in the engine bay

here is one that it easy.

I used one of them tire pump which can be run from the cigar ligher and joss sticks to make the smoke.

Well the at home smoking is kind of out of the question for me.

Lifter is something I have heard and I know of exhaust leak from one of the other threads.

Best I can do right now is hope I can find a good mechanic that can diagnose it properly.
