engine trouble

I own a 2000 s-type 3.0. Just bought it. When the engine is cold, it runs great. After about 20 to 25 miles it starts missing. Gets worse the hotter the engine gets. A code did come up for 6 cylinder, and new spark plugs removed the code. Now no codes are coming up, and the motor is still doing it. Can anybody help? Thanks
i wud look at coil number 6 maybe swap it with 5.. and it also may be that your lower pcv elbow maybe torn.. common on v6 stype.. you will hear a hissing .. and if you wiggle the upper pcv elbow the noise will change a little.
Yeah, those are coil- on- plug setups, and it may be a bad coil. Let's hope the plug wasn't fouled by an internal fault, which a compression test could shed some light on.
Before things get complicated, you may want to try cleaning the Mass Airflow Sensor with somr CRC brand MAF spray cleaner.
Wait awhile for some additional advie, FactoryJagTech, jag_genius and ibjags are all very knowledgeable on your model and generous with their insight.

be careful on these cars using that cleaner. I know that my x type has a plastic MAF tube, and that cleaner will melt it away and ruin it. Unless its aluminum, i would take the element out and clean it that way. Just be careful!
I was referring to the cleaner, i am not sure if it is friendly to plastics or not, but most of that cleaner will harm plastics. You would know better than me, the only ones i have had to clean were aluminum tubes.

Wow, thanks alot for all the help. When I first got the car a code was coming up that said 6 cylinder, so that will suggestion definetly will be tried. Am going to replace the coil packs this week end and see if that will help. Once again, thanks for help, and I will let you know how it goes.

Hi again, found a vacuum leak and fixed it. Took the car for about a 50 mile dirve and it "bucked" 4 times during the drive, but absolutely nothing like it was before. Think I will drive it for a little bit and see if it get worse. Car has not been driven for about 4 months, maybe just some new gas??? Oh yeah, what would changing 5 coil pack with 6 actually do? Thanks for your help everyone.
Where was the vacuum leak?
Swapping coils from 5 to 6 is to see if code comes back on different cylinder. It is on 6 now, if code comes back saying Cyl 5 misfire, then you know coil is bad.

pvc valve is where the leak was. Thought that moving them would be to check the coils, but was not sure if that was correct. I will try to drive it to see if it still continues to "buck" sometimes. I really appreciate all your help. Thanks
