Default Excessive Blow By?

I pulled off my catch can today and it was half full of oil!! I have had the catch can on for a little over a month, and it seems to me that this is a lot of oil that is circulating thought the pcv system (which is why my tb looked the way it did). Does anyone know if this is normal?

I don't know how much that is - can you estimate it? - or what might be acceptable (I'm stuck at this point LOL). It doesn't look very much but equally I think it's meant to pass through as vapour in the PCV when OE rather then settle (condense?) out.

I'm guessing you haven't seen an appreciable drop on the dipstick so all is OK really - if alarming.

Sorry I can't help I'm just amazed, I haven't seen an oil catch can on a modern car, well done sir. It's got to be better than feeding it back through the system.

this is the reason I did it. I have a 76k miles on the car and this was the TB when I pulled it off

I wish I would have measure it better before I poured it into my used oil bottle. I have always noticed the STRs tended to use a lot of oil between oil changes, but I guess I never really measured it before. I am not sure if adding this into the system condenses more oil than before, but I do know it is much better for my intake tract.

What type/weight/brand oil are you using?
