flat battery
i take my granddaughters to school in a morning, left the park lights on, seven hours later the battery is to flat to start the engine, key doesn't fit the boot, WHO else would put the positive terminal behind the front wheel cover
You can use your other key (in the boot).
To everyone reading this:
1. make sure you have at least 2 working keys
2. at least annually check they work to open the boot (trunk)

Yes, this works, IF the key used at the moment is the valet key. If THAT is not the issue, try to spray penetration oil or graphite or WD40 into the lock at the boot first.
Just a note: I have 4 fully operational (i.e. non valet keys) for every of my Jags and I use the boot lock from time to time.
Most importantly: I keep the 2 original Jaguar keys at home, and only the 2 copies are in use, because (at least for the after 2004 S-Type) you need both original keys to be able to duplicate the transponder yourself onto the third and fourth key.... Meaning: If you loose one of the OE keys, you have a bit of a problem.
