Flip Key Question
Howdy, folks. I've looked around the forums and not got what I consider complete info on this, so any help is appreciated.
My key blade came out of the metal flip spring loaded housing. Part of the housing broke off, in fact. The blade is intact and everything else works on the key fob. I have separated the upper and lower parts, but now I'm wondering if the upper part (with the blade housing) can be taken apart or if it's glued together. My preference would be to remove my old transponder and install it into a donor upper fob, along with my existing blade (although cutting a new blade with the a new upper fob would be easy enough also). Anyone know if this is possible? If so, then my choice would be to buy a used fob and install my blade and transponder it it.
I noticed that there are blank upper fobs on ebay from China that seem to require gluing and that might do the trick, if they are decently made. Has anyone tried these? This is my second choice.
Also, how hard is it to remove and reinstall the pin that holds the blade? Anyone done that?
Note, my research tells me that it is impossible to program the transponder myself (without buying equipment), even with two working keys. Correct me if I'm wrong, please.
Thanks in advance. I have an '06 S-type.

You'll find plenty of info about taking apart and cutting up keys here https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...light=flip+fob
No, I have two good keys. It's just that some people are saying that the S-type can't be self-programmed to add keys.
