Default fuel filter

Hello all,

I came across a video that Vance580 posted about changing the fuel filter on his 05 STR and thought it might be a good thing to do on mine. I saw in the comments on the video that someone posted that you should remove residual system fuel pressure before removing the filter so fuel doesn't spew out. Is that true? Did he do that in the video? I didn't see where he mentioned anything about doing that. Thanks!

Chris (vance580) and I changed the fuel filter on my 2005 S-Type 3.0 at his house in August 2011 after we replaced the rear brake pads. We did not remove any residual fuel pressure and only a small amount of gasoline dripped out of the old filter when he removed it. But you definitely need that small fuel line removal tool to properly do the job. Good luck....

I use to but now just let it blow when I release the first clamp. It's not that much.

The easy way to bleed it down is to smack the interia switch with the car running. What until it dies then turn off the key. Most of the fuel pressure will be gone.

Just be SURE to reset the interia switch as it must be reset manually.

Great. Thanks for the replies. If Chris didn't release the pressure in his video and that's all the fuel that came out, then I'm not worried about it. I just didn't want to remove one of the lines and have fuel going everywhere. Thanks much!
